Call it an early wake up call to midlfe. My wife had surprised me with a party for my 40th birthday. I didn’t feel well after the party and decided to go to the doctor the next day. I had the presence of mind to ask my wife to take me to the doc. They admitted me to the hospital immediately noticing a problem. Three days later I had double bypass surgery.

Family history, lack of exercise, poor diet . . . I deserved what I got. But God was gracious to give me a second chance.

David, never knew you had open-heart surgery.

How scary that must have been.

Congratulations for making the decision to do it and the consciousness to still appreciate the fact you are alive, six years later.

And, um (gulp), thanks for the nice comment about the gift-thingy.
